  1. Introduction

The Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC) ensures that all students, faculty, and staff receive fair and equal treatment regardless of gender, caste, disability, socio-economic status, or other differences. It promotes inclusivity, diversity, and accessibility in education and campus life, in accordance with UGC guidelines and constitutional provisions.

  1. Objectives of the Equal Opportunity Cell:
  • To promote social inclusiveness and remove discrimination.
  • To provide support for students from marginalized communities (SC/ST/OBC, minorities, persons with disabilities, economically weaker sections).
  • To create awareness about rights and opportunities for all students.
  • To ensure barrier-free access to education and campus facilities.
  • To conduct skill development programs for disadvantaged groups.

  1. Functions of the EOC:
  • Counseling & Support Services – Provide guidance for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • Scholarship & Financial Aid Assistance – Help eligible students apply for government and private scholarships.
  • Awareness & Sensitization Programs – Conduct workshops on gender equality, caste discrimination, disability rights, and social justice.
  • Infrastructure & Accessibility Improvement – Ensure ramps, elevators, special restrooms, and assistive technology for students with disabilities.
  • Redressal of Discrimination Complaints – Handle cases of unfair treatment, harassment, or exclusion.
  1. Complaint Mechanism:

Students can report grievances related to discrimination through:

  • Complaint box placed in key locations.
  • Email communication with EOC members.
  • Direct approach to any EOC member.
  • Complaints will be addressed through an impartial and confidential inquiry process.
  1. Activities & Initiatives:
  • Organizing career guidance programs for marginalized students.
  • Conducting inclusive cultural events to celebrate diversity.
  • Providing free coaching or remedial classes for weaker students.
  • Collaborating with NGOs and government bodies for better support services.

  • The EOC functions under: The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016
  • The Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.
