
To commemorate National Sports Day 2026 and to mark the birth anniversary of the legendary Indian hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, the Major Dhyan Chand Club of MCEM organized a two-day sports event on 29th August 2026 and 31st August 2026. The event aimed to promote sportsmanship, physical fitness, mental well-being, discipline and a healthy competitive spirit among the students.
Objectives
The major objectives of organizing the sports event were:
- To develop awareness and knowledge about different sports and games.
- To promote physical fitness and mental development among students.
- To encourage students to actively participate in sports and games.
- To develop essential social skills, teamwork, cooperation and communication.
- To inculcate discipline, sportsmanship, leadership and a positive competitive spirit.
- To provide students with opportunities to identify and develop their sporting abilities.
Sports and Games Included
A variety of indoor and outdoor games were organized during the event, including:
- Badminton
- Carrom
- Chess
- Shot Put
- Javelin Throw
- Skipping Rope
The competitions were conducted over the two days, with students participating enthusiastically in different events.
Organization and Guidance
The sports activities were organized under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Kumari Shashi. The event was coordinated by Mr. Ashwini Mishra, In-charge, Major Dhyan Chand Club, with the support and cooperation of Mr. Prafful Krishna, Mr. Dhananjay Yadav and Dr. Noushia Tabassum.
The games were conducted from 11:30 AM to 4:00 PM on both days. Proper discipline and fair play were maintained throughout the competitions.
Valedictory Ceremony and Prize Distribution
The final day of the sports event was marked by the prize distribution ceremony. Students who secured the first, second and third positions in various events were awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze medals, respectively.
The winners, runners-up and second runners-up were felicitated for their outstanding performance and participation. The ceremony encouraged students to appreciate the values of hard work, dedication, perseverance and sportsmanship. The celebration successfully conveyed the message that sports are an integral part of holistic education and personality development.
