Gandhi Jayanti and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti 2026

Cleanliness, Service, and Goodwill Campaign by NSS

On birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and India’s former Prime Minister Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, the NSS unit of Maitreya College of Education and Management, Hajipur, organized a “Cleanliness, Service, and Goodwill Campaign.”

As part of the campaign, NSS volunteers conducted a cleanliness drive within the institute’s premises and the surrounding areas. The volunteers raised awareness among the public regarding cleanliness, a clean environment, and social responsibility. The program conveyed messages of the spirit of service, mutual brotherhood, social harmony, and goodwill.

On this occasion, the NSS volunteers pledged to adopt Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals of cleanliness, truth, and non-violence, as well as Lal Bahadur Shastri’s values of simplicity, dedication to duty, and service to the nation, in their own lives.

Under this campaign, B.Ed. students and NSS volunteers organized a special awareness program in Kashipur village, which has been adopted by the NSS unit. Through street plays, the students motivated villagers regarding the importance of cleanliness, maintaining a clean environment, and keeping their surroundings tidy.

The objective of the program was to inspire people to adopt cleanliness not merely as a campaign, but as a daily habit and a social responsibility. The students and volunteers emphasized the importance of actively contributing to the creation of a clean, healthy, and harmonious society.
